Kendrick's Corner: RIP Peter Lenz

This last weekend I was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway covering MotoGP and the support series, the Moriwaki MD250H powered by Honda - a series that is run by the USGPRU for racers between the ages of 12 and 16. I was excited to share with you the photos from such a momentous occassion, as it is not every year that American youth is showcased on the world stage of motorcycling excellence. That excitement built through Sunday morning when tragedy struck: 13 year old racer Peter Lenz died. I won't go so far as to explain the details, nor the media frenzy, or even discuss the controversy. I want to just show you his face and his passion.

I can pick up any Road Racing World magazine from the last year and read about his adventures in road racing. I can see him all over Youtube - especially that video of him at 10 years old dragging his elbow through turn 2 at Barber Motorsports Park. I can see him on SpeedTV. It's hard to believe that I won't be seeing him alive ever again.

Rest in Peace, Peter Lenz.
